Stop the Road Jack! (HIF1 Planning Inquiry Oxfordshire) –  Please Donate

Thank you to supporters for your donations to our Crowdfunding campaign! These will help to make a strong case against the HIF1 road, and for ORAA to work with, and support the Rule 6 parties opposing the scheme at the Planning Inquiry.

We are pleased to advise that we have received additional funding and we are following up grant aid commitments, but please continue to share the link with friends and family to help us reach our goal.

Proofs of Evidence for the Planning Inquiry are due in January. Public Hearings will start on 20 February 2024 at Bee House, 140 Eastern Avenue, Milton Park, Oxfordshire OX14 4SB.

What is HIF1?

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) wants to build a 9-mile road (called HIF1) which will destroy our valuable countryside. The HIF1 road will not solve congestion but will make it worse with induced traffic. We need an alternative transport vision with better use of existing roads and investment in public transport.

Some of the things wrong with the HIF1 road scheme:

  1. It is unaffordable with costs likely to overrun wildly (what council services will be lost to pay for it).

  2. It will tarmac over our countryside, destroying nature and tranquility.

  3. It is a short-term political fix that will only make traffic and congestion worse, long term.

  4. It is based on flawed and unreliable traffic modelling.

  5. It contradicts OCC’s own transport and climate policies.

What is the HIF1 Planning Inquiry?

OCC is seeking approval of HIF1 by stealth ignoring its own planning committee’s decision to refuse the planning application. Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, responding to vested interests, has called the Local Public Inquiry to examine the council’s application and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State, who takes the decision.

Updates on the “Didcot Garden Town Planning Inquiry” are published by Gateley Hamer, appointed to organise and administer the inquiry:

CASE REF: APP/U3100/V/23/3326625 – OCC Planning Application

https://gateleyhamer-pi.com/en-gb/didcot-garden-town/

The road application inquiry is conjoined with the Compulsory Purchase Orders necessary for it

CASE REF: NATTRAN/SE/HAO/286 (DPI/U3100/23/12) – OCC Scheme and Orders

We need to raise funds to make the strongest possible case against the road. We need to raise £25,000 – £30,000 which will be spent on the following:

  1. Legal and planning advice to submit a professional rebuttal of OCC’s plans.

  2. Employ experts to challenge the many weaknesses of HIF1.

  3. Question those supporting the scheme at the Public Inquiry.

  4. Commission a vision for transport and development.

The more we raise through our Crowdfunder the stronger the case will be!

Please donate and help oppose this damaging road scheme.
